A zinc-lead-silver mine owned by South African Iron & Steel Corp.
The deposit is of Neoproterozoic age and its genesis is closely related to the Rosh Pinah graben. The ore is stratabound and hosted in the Rosh-Pinah Formation (also known as Kapok Formation).
Discovered in 1963; production began in 1969.

Known for well-formed yellowish baryte crystals.

The name Rosh Pinah comes from Hebrew & means 'corner stone'. It is situated 165 km south of Aus, 70 km NE of Oranjemund & 20 km north of the Orange River, the main deposit being in the Rosh Pinah Mountain.
