Large opencut mine known for a wealth of secondary mineral species.
There was an old Kintore shaft, which was part of the Central mine (Block 9). When they started to open cut the deposits, the new Kintore open pit probably encompassed the old Kintore shaft along with various other old workings, including the Block 10 and much of the Central and Proprietry mine workings (Blocks 9-11).
NOTE: Material from this opencut (and also the Block 14 Opencut) which was fairly rich in secondary minerals could be collected in the 1990s on designated dumps on the mine site of the Pinnacles mine (http://www.mindat.org/loc-5752.html).
