Name:The name is derived from its composition: yttrium (Y), fluorine (F), titanium (Ti) and silicon (Si).


Originally reported from Verkhnee Espe Massif, Tarbagatai Range, Semipalatinsk Oblysy (Semipalatinsk [Semipalatinskaya] Oblast'), Kazakhstan and El'ozero REE occurrence, Western Keivy Massif, Kola Peninsula, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia.

A discredited mineral, but apparently valid since a crystal-structure determination was reported (Balko & Bakakin, 1975).
