This is one of the more unusual mineral specimens we've seen to come out of the Goboboseb Mountains in Namibia. It's a large, leaf-like gypsum formation that has several purple amethyst crystals embedded in it. The white dots peppering it are also gypsum crystals. It really looks like a large leaf with veins and all. The amethyst crystals have some damage, but the gypsum is a floater because it is completely covered with the secondary gypsum and has no obvious contact point. What probably happend was that it sheared off of a larger structure at some point and then the secondary gypsum continued to grow over it.
