As recorded:
Rosia Montana (Verespatak), Alba Co., Romania
100mm x 80mm x 30mm
An absolutely wonderful well crystallized native gold specimen from Romania. The locality on the old label is given as Arudbanya, but this is likely referring to a nearby administrative center and not the actual mine. The specimen is likely from the classic well-known mine at Rosia Montana. Regardless, this is an exceptional specimen. An area approximately 7.0 cm across on this matrix is mostly covered by bright leaves of crystallized native gold. The leaves exhibit the classic trigons that this mining area is well-known for. In excellent condition. The specimen measures 10.0 x 8.0 x 3.0 cm. A neat old label accompanies the specimen, this label dating the piece to 1918. The quality for this old-time specimen is truly outstanding.
