PORTUGAL AND RELATED MINERALS
There are fifteen species and varieties of minerals that, one way or another, are related with Portugal and or with Portuguese people; some were approved by IMA and have been found in the Portuguese territory.
1. Azorite (or Açorite) - is described as a variety of zircon in volcanic rocks of the Azores Islands; named for Azores Islands http://www.mindat.org/min-443.html
2. Claudetite - an oxide of arsenic from São Domingos Mine http://www.mindat.org/min-1060.html named after F. Claudet, French chemist, who first described the natural material
