The Litchfield, Maine Nepheline Syenite Pluton
Last Updated: 11th Jul 2012
Since first posting this piece in April 2012, I've learned from Bob Marvinney at the Maine Geological Survey that the Litchfield nepheline syenite has been recently dated to 321 Ma via U/Pb zircon analysis. As such I've pulled down the original piece until an update is completed. Basically, this 321 Ma dating makes the Litchfieldite even weirder than anyone thought before, if that is possible.
