TGMS 2008 - The Candelabra - Blue Cap Tourmaline

Last Updated: 22nd Feb 2008

The Candelabra is a good candidate for the most famous mineral specimen in the world. Currently owned by the Smithsonian, it was found in the Tourmaline Queen mine in 1972 by Pala International. It is 25cm wide and is the best example of the 'Blue-Cap' style Elbaite Tourmaline currently known.
