Silvermines (Ireland) Specimens Wanted!

Last Updated: 10th Nov 2007

Overview

The Mogul Mine, Silvermines is my favourite locality and I specialize in material from there. Therefore I am very interested in acquiring any specimens from there.
If you do not wish to part with the specimen I would be extremely greatful for a photograph and even just a description of the specimen would suffice.

Any information regarding the mineralogy of the mine or accounts of the Barstow find are of interest.

What I'm Looking For

I am very interested in acquiring crystallized examples of the various sulfosalts found at the mine, in particular bournonite and tetrahedrite.
I am also trying to find examples of the various lead-silver sulfosalts from the Room 4611 occurence such as proustite, argyrodite, pyrargyrite, miargyrite, smithite, polybasite and xanthoconite.
I am, of course, always interested in specimens of galena, sphalerite and pyrite.
Crystallized examples of the gangue minerals are of high importance to me so if you have a calcite, barite, dolomite or quartz please let me know!

What I Can Offer In Return

I can offer to pay cash for the specimen in question or else I can offer quality Irish minerals in trade.

Thank You!

Moorland Minerals
You may have already seen these ones at another show - but in case you haven't here is what Moorland Minerals (minus Stephen who is recovering from a nasty collecting accident) had available:
