Silvermines (Ireland) Specimens Wanted!

Last Updated: 2nd Sep 2009

Overview

The Mogul Mine, Silvermines is my favourite mineral district and I specialize in material from there. I'm extremely interested in acquiring any specimens from the district. Even if you do not wish to part with the specimen I would be extremely greatful for a photograph or even just a description of the specimen would suffice.

I'm especially interested in acquiring the bournonite figured on page 104 of the March-April 1999 issue of the Mineralogical Record (Vol.30, No.2).A photograph of the specimen can be found here; http://www.aditnow.co.uk/photo/Personal-Album-1490-Image-39001/

I'm interested in ANY specimens from the locality such as;
Galena

Sphalerite

-Baryte
-Pyrite
-Calcite
-Dolomite

Mogul Mine specimens I would like to see/acquire

- Tetrahedrite
Bournonite
- Jordanite
I am also trying to find examples of the various lead-silver sulfosalts from the Room 4611 occurence in the Mogul Mine such as;
-Proustite
-Argyrodite
-Pyrargyrite
-Miargyrite
-Smithite
-Polybasite
-Xanthoconite

What I Can Offer In Return

I can offer to pay cash for the specimen in question or else I can offer quality Irish minerals in trade.

I'm also interested in any information on the Richard Barstow find known as the ''great vug''.

Thank You!

You may have already seen these ones at another show - but in case you haven't here is what Moorland Minerals (minus Stephen who is recovering from a nasty collecting accident) had available:
