Mogul Mine specimens wanted!
Due to the importance of the
Mogul Mine, Silvermines locality in the field of Irish mineralogy, I am particularly interested in acquiring or simply seeing specimens from the locality. I am willing to buy or trade for these specimens and please do not hesitate to contact me at
barryflannery@gmail.com if you have any specimens for sale or trade, or even to just show me, as I would be most grateful!
I'm especially interested in acquiring the bournonite figured on page 104 of the March-April 1999 issue of the
Mineralogical Record (Vol.30, No.2).A photograph of the specimen can be found here;

An example of the minerals found in the Mogul Mine
Large rhombs of dolomite and a single cube-octahedron of galena
Ruby crystals of sphalerite with minor galena
Group of cubo-octahedral galena crystals on dolomite
Group of dulled cubo-octahedral galena crystals on dolomite
Mirror bright cubo-octahedral of galena on pyrite
Mirror bright cubo-octahedral galena crystals embedded in a pyrite matrix
Galena and sphalerite crystals on matrix
Single cube-octahedron of galena on pyrite
I am also interested in any information or accounts regarding the mineralogy of the mine or first hand references of what was found, for example the collecting trips of the late Richard Barstow in the early 1980's. Other potentially interesting sources of information would be former mine employees or geologist's who might recall seeing the in-situ mineralization. This is of great importance to me and I'm extremely keen to hear such information or accounts.
Thank you!
