Solubility Data on 646 Common and Not So Common Minerals

The information for this document has been drawn from a number of sources, mainly from an old edition of Lange's Handbook of Chemistry, and Orsino Smith's "Identification and Qualitative Chemical Analysis of Minerals." BE SAFE! Warnings have been included where hazards have been identified, however these should not be considered to be complete. Nitric acid, for example emits dangerous oxides of nitrogen when added to virtually any material. Play it safe. Always use a work area that's ventillated well enough to ensure that no one will be breathing the fumes. ALL ACIDS ARE DANGEROUS! Hydrofluoric acid, also called hydrogen fluoride (HF), is especially dangerous. It penetrates skin like kleenex! If it contacts your skin, even for a second, it's a medical emergency requiring immediate action. Be aware that people die from ignoring warnings about chemicals.

If this is of any use to you, Minium is soluble in HCL with the evolution of Chlorine, too.

May I suggest that you add a general note to the top of the table stating that the data refer to concentrated mineral acids ? This is probably not evident to everyone.

And for melanterite: this is soluble in all acids.
