The Hong Kong Mineral Fair

This year Mindat will bring you all more Asia side mineral shows experiences sharing, hope you all enjoy it, let's starting from “ Hong Kong Mineral Fair 2009”.

The Hong Kong Mineral Fair was organized by The Mineralogy Society Of Hong Kong, this is their 3rd year to organize this. Although this is a small locally show but with well organizing setting up and brilliant media marketing works, the show end with full warm enjoyment and surprising high of attendances.

Dr George Liu from AAA Minerals (stand at the middle) also specially attend this show for signing his wonderful book “Fine Minerals of China”, they got the chinese language version selling on this show.

At the show I really like this specimen from Borieva Mine – Bulgaia, Galena with some Chalcopyrite, Quartz, Calcite

Other than minerals there also got gemstones and fossil tables,

but one of the table all the time full with lots of ladies around was the table displayed full with rough diamond from South Africa

At the Hong Kong Mineral Fair they got the display case loan from The Stephen Hui Geological Museum, the display cabinet got 10 nice specimens and they especially created a fun mineral identification game for everyone to play with then you can get a nice small specimen as reward, lots of children really love this fun game.

The Stephen Hui Geological Museum recently opened in January 2009 as the first and only geological museum in Hong Kong. It with an attractive display of a world-class collection of 950 mineral and 300 rock specimens as well as 350 fossils from China.
