Adverts in Blogs and Articles

18th Dec 2007

As you may have read, you can now put adverts into blogs and articles. Notice I say YOU can do it. By default there aren't any. If you want to put adverts in you stick them in yourself with <ads> and <googleads> tags.

Why on earth would you do this? Because it helps mindat.org make money, which helps us provide the service you enjoy! But I don't like to force things on people, so it's entirely up to you whether you choose to use them or not. More serious articles might not suit having adverts in, but something like a show review might be ok with them.

So, here's a test with LOTS of banners, five rows of mindat advertisers at once!

And, just to be complete, some Google Ads!

Hi Jolyon,
These ads don't seem to work, clicking on them loads this page again. Is it just my browser (opera 9.21)? The ads on the home page work.

You probably want to close the googleads tag with a greater than sign.
