I was just thinking about uploading some new photos, since after rearranging our house and finding some unpacked boxes I've come across several CDs of old mineral photos. Taking a look at my older photos I was reminded about this story...
In 2007 my parents traveled from Maryland to Arizona for my Brother's wedding. Well, the Parker/Quartzsite area is a blast for collecting rocks and they had seen my field guide DVD for the area. So we decided to go to the BBC Mine and the Planet Mine area.
My mother actually has a nice little selection of minerals, her favorites are Aquamarine and Azurite/Malachite combos. There wasn't going to be any Aquamarine, or Azurite, but PLENTY of Malachite! I had always thought it to be odd that the Planet mine didn't produce any Azurite, but then again, the amount of other copper minerals make up for it! While we are walking up the wash towards the deposit my mother bends over and picks this up...
Azurite and Malachite from the Planet Mine
So, ummm...I guess there is Azurite at the Planet Mine! She proceded to bend over and pick up another smaller sample. I was suprised at the time, but now I know, Mother Nature sides with your Mother.
