Springfield minerals arrived today.

22nd Aug 2008

Finally, the box full of T/Ns arrived along with the boxes of other minerals in various sizes. I am pleased to see that Jim surprised me with a poldervaartite plate, just lovely. We picked up over a hundred thumbnails in Springfield and I am pleased to see so many Canadian specimens. Serandite was hard to resist so we picked up 7 thumbnails!
Some of the thumbnails I bought are for gifts to a friend who housesits on occasion, grandchildren who are old enough to appreciate the specimens and for various family members. But the majority are going right into our collection.
I have SEVEN new cabinets coming next Tuesday and three will go in the two guest rooms, the rose room aka the Irv Brown room will get two cabinets and the Parisian room, aka the Lance Armstrong room, will get one.
Our guests will be enjoying private mineral shows in their rooms!
The other cabinets go into climate controlled storage till the new addition is added on to the house.
We are having a walk in vault put in for troublesome weather concerns, like tornadoes?
This will make 20 cabinets custom built by Keith Williams in our home, yikes. I think we are seriously hooked. I am giving antiques to our daughter to make room for mineral cabinets? Hook line and sinker babeeeee!
Been a long day, trying to get over a nasty run in with poison oak, yuck.
Can we say puffed up and swollen face? I am hiding indoors for a while!

WOW Gail you must have a had a ball at Springfield. I'm really hungry for a good mineral show. It has been years for me if you don't count Agate Days at Moose Lake, Minnesota. My last was in Norway in 2000 and it was a dandy. No collectors anywhere near me on the Northwestern Ontario border so no shows either. Like Danny, I hope you post some pictures.

Jim is filing all the info on the thumbnails, some of which are REALLY good. I need to take photos and promise to share.
I am sketching photos at the moment, along with our almost 8 year old Grandson, Iain.
I think I will post the sketches on the forum page newly created for art.
