Last Saturday's trip to Sagåsen

17th Oct 2007

Last Saturday’s trip, 13. October, went to Sagåsen quarry. I got a tip earlier this week that there were some nice apophyllites to be found. Those where gone, but there was plenty of pegmatite material to look at, and I stumbled over a really good one with large lumps of ferrokentbrooksite. Largest lump was about 4 cm x 4 cm. Unfortunately it occurred near one of the saw surfaces. The larger samples are affected by this, so they need some trimming.

Also some other minerals occurred, a couple of nice zirsilite-(Ce) samples, plenty of massive thorite and pyrochlore, wöhlerite, etc…

Guess who forgot to bring his camera…

Today I managed to take a really bad picture of four of the ferrokentbrooksite samples, before the sun disappeared.
