Just returned from Bancroft

22nd Jun 2009

Anyone heading up to the Bancroft area, the blackflies are still there. There are a ton of deer flies, horse flies and the mosquitos are very very brutal. After 2 days in the bush I think I could use a couple pints of blood.

Andrew, thanks for the memories. My wife and I visited the area in the early 1970s and to this day she has not forgiven me for taking her on that trip. I enjoyed it, though, because I collected lots of Fluor Richterite (Edenite) on that trip. The area was largely exhausted mineralogically when we were there and I never went back.

Is the Chinese restaurant still there next to the mineral shop in Bancroft?

Best,

Joe
