Working the Tripp Mine late June
5th Jul 2010
Toveco slowed down at the mine to get ready for the Gilsum Rock Swap. It was another great year for the Gilsum show with attendance around 5K. The Toveco Silent Auction was such a success that Lee is already planning on 2011 improvements. For the future the bulk of Toveco mineral specimens will be sold thru a Silent auction venue (Gilsum & maybe Franklin). Rocko who is set up next to Toveco will also expanded his silent auction for Gilsum 2011.
At the mine. We are still concentrating on the W/L good pegmatite area (check past blogs). As stated in past blogs I blasted this area 2 times before. And these shots didn’t lift but cacitized. When this happens you have to re-shoot into a close solid rock zone and then excavate into the cavitized area. That is what is being done now. Because I have a small excavator this task also requires short hole blasting in the cavitized area which is a pain.
The secondary effort of building the ramp into the pit is also progressing. My goal is to be in the pit by mid July.
That’s it for now
