Native Gold Update

13th July 2012

Our latest update is Native Gold - a selection of Gold specimens from the El Infierno Mine in Venezuela. This was a small but rich deposit famed for its production of wire Golds. Wires are one of the rarest forms of crystallisation that Gold occurs in, and is seen as elongate striated curving forms. Many of the specimen also show angular voids which are the negative impressions of Quartz crystals on which the Gold grew on or between. The curves and angles combine to make some interesting shapes, and Steve has had great fun describing what each specimen looks like.
