The "Minerals Miner" whose post you refer to above is blocked from uploading pix to the database.

I agree with Peter, looks like Magnetite in a chloritic schist. Check with a magnet as Peter suggested. It could occur like this in a few places but it looks very much like Chester, Vermont material. Compare to this image below.
