rockhounding in Parma province, Italy

Hi,
I just wanted to tell you that everyone can contact me about rockhounding in Parma province, Italy. The area is full of locs well known here in Italy for beautiful micros, such as millerite, titanite, magnetite and many other great minerals typical for ophiolites.
If you are interested, we can organize some field trips here.
Kind regards, Chris

Attention: Collecting fossils is strictly not allowed by italian law.
If you can speak/read italian (but a little english is spoken, too) you will easily find some contact in the italian language section, or linking to the AMI (Micro-minerals Association of Italy) forum.

Hey Chris

If you are still around I would appreciate some information. I am a Canadian living in Roma. I am an avid
rockhound and gemmologist. I would appreciate finding out the name of the university that has the tourmalines.
I would also appreciate any information you may have about mineral collecting in Italy.

I am looking forward to visiting some of the caves of Italy, but would enjoy doing some fossil and mineral
collecting too.

regards,

Hi Catalina,
I am quite a bit surprised to see that the topic was opened up again after 7 years.
Since 3 years I'm living in Zurich, so I moved from Italy.
Nonetheless, as soon as I'm back for holidays, I will certainly try to have a couple days for mineral collecting. So, we will be able to collect something together.
In Tuscany there are a lot of mineral collectors. The ones I know are quite keen to show you mineral places where you can collect.
Let me know if you need any help.
Best,

I understand that there is a university in Florence that has some of the best Tourmalines that were found on Elba. Why don't you go and look at the display and talk to one of the professors. He will undoubtedly know the local collectors and perhaps a local mineral society you can join. They can certainly tell you what is near by that can be collected and perhaps even have field trips you could go on.
