Phosphophyllite from Unificada Mine

I recently purchased this nice phosphophyllite on siderite with rough sphalerite, but would like to know weather it was a good deal or not. I bought it for $40. It is an ex-mineral classics piece that is 3.1 x 2.5 x 1.5 cm. It is from the Unificada Mine in Potosi, Bolivia. Pictures are taken under natural light.
I'd like to know what its appraised value is. What do you think?
-Thanks, Zach

I must disagree with my esteemed colleagues.

Although phosphophyllite is pretty uncommon stuff, judging from your photos, the majority of crystals on this specimen suffer from some to major damage. A beginning collector with little knowledge and too much money might pays a few hundred, but a more advanced collector would recognize this as being a below-average specimen, and pass on it.

Based mostly on the significant damage it would be priced at less than $50 in booth at a show, assuming I bought it in the first place (I probably would have passed on the offer, unless that undamaged area could be trimmed out as a thumbnail).

Bargain of the year at forty. On matrix is nice, and unusual, in my experience. If I'd gotten that for forty, I'd be jumping up and down, and going very carefully over that dealers stock for other sleepers. I'd put it on a nice thick acrylic base and add a zero to the price. Or maybe a little trim and shop it to the thumbnail nuts, it's a prize, seldom seen.
