What the arteest shall think up next?
I was thinking, upstairs apartment at first- haha- I should have known! You can hear them splashing as they enter walking... Nice! Hope those ladies wore boots and not high heels/open toes! ;)
The big crystals ARE impressive! Guess we better be on guard for flats full of bright azurite plates from the "new" mine in "somewhere remote"!
Thanks for the fun Uwe!

Sarah, I have been a huge fan of your work for some time! I have one piece from Steve Sorrel that was shipped to me and I have a mat cutter and will be matting it nicely and putting it in a ready made frame with glass for the display. I will ship it back after, minus the frame, but with the mat. I don't mind having pieces sent to me, if I approve of the work beforehand.
I only need one or two more artists to make the Evening of the Westward Look show complete.
I am also painting three pieces to put in.
I owned an art gallery and picture framing shop for 23 years so have all the mat board and equipment.

Dear Gail, I really would love to exhibit my artwork in Tucson, but unfortunately the costs of the trip are too high for me, at the moment. You maybe already looked at my works, but I'm attaching a file just to let you see what I'm used to do. This is one of the illustrations from my forthcoming book "Faeries of Crystals", which I'm going to finish within the end of this year (finally!!!)...
Hope the next year will be possible, for me, to partecipate if you want, or at least visiting that wonderflu show, where I've already been in the 2003.
Have a great day!

Speaking as an artist, it would be extremely difficult to make this in photoshop or painter (Both popular for digital painting.)

There are many differences actually.

It may have been projected on to the watercolour paper, outlined in pencil and then painted, to achieve the exact outlines of the crystal forms.

But when you check, you can actually see many, many differences between it and the photo, in terms of colour, transparency-look, etc.

I will be submitting some mineral art soon as well.

The usual way is with dry brush techniques in watercolour with touches of gouache (opaque-ish watecolours).

Gail -- you ought to contact Noel Dedora. Jesse's got his info, I'm sure. He's done some very nice paintings and drawings for us, and he usually helps out Cal and Kerith at the main show. Or we might be able to loan one of those pieces for your exhibition, as it would be nice for Noel to get some recognition. He's done both a pencil version of one of the fluorites and a painting of our Russian matrix tourmaline that's quite nice.
