As I have already told Bill per PM, the barite specimen from the Black Forest is from Münstertal Valley, most likely Teufelsgrund Mine. Wieden could be another possibility.

Here are some notes about German Baryte that whoever end up writing this article may find handy.

Germany
Harz Mountains, Clausthal. These bladed barite crystals are coated with goethite? are not much to look at but they are from a famous old locality.

Baden-Württemberg, Black Forest, Rankachtal, Oberwolfach, Grube Clara. This mine has produced pointed barite specimens for over a 100 years. Locally, barite is called meisselspat (chisel spar). These specimens are confined mostly to Germany because of the local interest. In this regard they are like the barite specimens from Palos Verde, near Los Angeles, California that are mostly of interest to local collectors. In the Mineral business you can indeed make money by taking coal to Newcastel, especially after Newcastle stopped producing coal. Grube Clara is the last mining operating in an old mining district. The earliest mining documents date from 1652. Since 1850 the mine has produced barite and even recently fine specimens have been found. The mine is also known for water clear fluorite crystals and fine but small secondary minerals (this means micromounts). …collectors are admitted to the dumps at the barite mill near Wolfach for a fee of about $1.1

Sauerland, Dreislar. “Wright’s Rock Shop has acquired a new lot of very impressive, large (25-30 cm) groups of thick, pink and white, bladed barite crystals from Dreislar, Most are sprinkled with lustrous chalcopyrite disphenoids, and are exceptionally good for the locality.”1

Ask Helmut Bruckner how much of this material there was and the nature of the crystals and a better locality.

Saxony, Erzgebirge, Obersachsen, Crottendorf, Pöhla Uranium Mine. “At the same dealer’s stand (Ben de Wit) were some large, spectacular groups of the new golden barite from the Pöhla uranium mine…The resemblance this time is to the well-known golden barites from the Eagle mine, Colorado. The crystals are bright, gemmy, deep orange tablets to 4 co on an edge in groups to 12 cm ($650), and also one 25 x 30-cm group ($1500).”1 “Only about 200 decent specimens have been found. …collected over the last 4 to 5 years. …Transparent yellow-brown crystals up to 12 cm were found initially, but more recent crystals are generally a lighter yellow dolor and smaller in size (up to 5 cm). Specimens range from miniature size to large cabinet size.”2 This last bit was apparently reported by Ben De Wit to Wendell Wilson at the Denver show in 1986. Many more specimens made their appearance at the Munich and Ste.-Marie-aux-Mines shows(Sotheby's 2001 auction of the Joseph Freilich collection)(Sotheby's 2001 auction of the Joseph Freilich collection) in 1988.

St. Blasien is quite some km away and the Gottesehre mine near Urberg and also near to St. Blasien yielded as far as i remember similar barytes. I will check my literature (and of course i hope some Black Forest specialists will check in) - there is a special issue about the Gottesehre Mine in the Emser Hefte. And i should point out that i am not an expert on Black Forest Barytes. Just checked your site (i visited it several times before in the past and found it very useful, keep up the good work!) .. on first sight found some typos in the european section: It is not Schwarzenwald but Schwarzwald (which means Black Forest). BTW if you may find some of my baryte pictures here at mindat useful please feel free to use them! I may send you some additional infos on german localities if i find the time during the next weeks ... occurrences that should be mentioned are Holzen (http://www.mindat.org/gallery.php?loc=65578) - you have listed it above but not on your site - and Ramsbeck (both Northrhine-Westphalia). There are certainly some more but these are IMHO important. Will check back ASAP

As noted on my website, there are "similar specimens from Gottesehre mine NE of Munstertal, near St. Blasien. See above and [www.mineralienatlas.de]; where there is (or was) a specimen just like it labeled Gottesehre.

Can someone help me confirm that this is a Teufelsgrund specimen? Or Gottesehre?

The MinDat page on this locality (click above), one of the best known in Germany, provides an excellent overview of a mine approaching its 300th birthday. Its wealth of species now number about 350, and there is a website where the species discovered are listed and kept current at Clara Mine Species. Dump collecting has been allowed and popular for many years, contributing to the mine's popularity, and as of 2009 was still permitted. An excellent webpage on the Clara mine at Clara Mine Webpage has pictures of the mine and the general locality and provides details about dump collecting. There are many books and articles for further reference, listed on the MinDate page and the strahler website noted above.

In addition to its wide variety of species (almost all of which occur as micromounts), the Clara mine is best know for barite, with occasional hand sized fluorite specimens. The chisel shaped barites locally are called meisselspat (chisel spar). As Rock Currier says, in this regard they are "like the barite specimens from Palos Verde, near Los Angeles, California that are mostly of interest to local collectors. In the mineral business you could indeed make money by taking coal to Newcastle, especially after Newcastle stopped producing coal."
The same chisel shape is found in barites from other localities (some recent Chinese barites especially), but in general the habit and color of the ones from Clara are distinctive. This picture is of an outstanding example of the classic chisel habit because of its clarity, luster, nice phantoms and good condition.

While larger crystals do occur, more commonly they are smaller if in good condition, but often very sharp. At the micro level there is a wide variety of habits, sometimes with water clear crystals.

These clear crystals are less common in hand specimens, but they do exist. One also frequently sees the more common barite habit in a nice yellow-gold color with crystals to 2+ cm in large plates.

Pöhla-Tellerhäuser Mine, more commonly referred to as Pöhla, is in a classic mining and mineral specimen area: the Erzgebirge (Ore) Mountains, mined since at least 1168, primarily for tin, silver and iron. These mines straddle the current border between Germany and the Czech Republic. Crottendorf is the town often cited on labels as nearest the Pöhla-Tellerhäuser Mine, but Pöhla itself is (was) a tiny village now formally incorporated into Schwarzenberg. The Pöhla-Tellerhäuser uranium mine, which closed in 1991, is the source of the barite crystals, and is also remowned known for its bismuth and native silver on arsenic specimens.
The barites sometimes occur with small clear fluorite crystals, on a drusy quartz matrix. Often that matrix is clearly quartz casts after cubic fluorite. The coffin-shaped crystals occur in closely packed groups, can be very clear and gemmy, and are a light honey color to dark amber. Crystals to around 9 cm are not unusual, although usually less gemmy than the smaller ones.
