How to ContributeCorrect obsolete names grammer???

8th May 2004 21:00 UTCkarl

Hello everyone!

Sorry to bring up this subject again but I think we need to make a decision again.

What I am looking at is how obsolete names are listed in the locality data. There seem to be two predominate was of entering the information.

1. New Name Mine(Old Name Mine), Anyplace, Whereville Co., Somewhere

2. New Name(Old Name)Mine, Anyplace, Whereville Co., Somewhere

This aplies to mines, prospects, claims; districts, counties and so on.

I think that the first method is the preferable because it is easier to search in the database, doesn't create confusion in case say the location changes from a prospect to a mine, and it is easier to read and identify the diffrent names when looking at locality lists.

Opinions and and eventualy a decision please!

is the correct method to add by! If you see any in the 2nd method, please feel free to alter them.

Jolyon,

Thanks for the decision, I have gone through and cleaned up Oregon, Idaho and Montana. California and Washington didn't need any changes butnevada and new Mexico have a lot of work to be done.
