How to ContributeUnable to comment on articles

Is there a trick to commenting on articles? Using both Firefox 5 and Chrome shows no comment link for a Mindat article. The bottom of an article just shows a Return to Named Person Article Index and then the Comments with no obvious link and finally at the very bottom, a statement that says in order to leave comments one must be registered even though I'm already registered and logged in.

James, do you pjysically log in each time you enter Mindat? For a while, because Mindat recognized me each time I entered I thought I was logged in......not so!!

I've tried both physically logging off and then relogging in both Firefox 5 and Chrome. I also closed and reopened both browsers in case that was causing a problem. I even clicked on the link to register again and submitted it as well as re-editing my profile in hopes something would be switched on. I wonder if something went wrong in the original signup that allows me to comment in messages but not articles for some reason? If I remember right, I signed up using an older version of Opera a few months back on a Nintendo Wii as I was on vacation at the time but everything seemed to go fine back then and certainly no problems with posting in messages.

James, I'm at a loss....one of the computer experts will chime in.....

Working fine here on Opera and Chrome. Have you tried the usual mundane things such as clearing your cache in FF5 and Chrome? Tried it with IE if it exists on your system?

I'm not the computer guru Don expected to show up yet, but I thought I'd throw a few ideas out there.

You need to get your registration activated (now done).

Hi to everybody!

As a matter of fact, I have the same problem: I am already registered, but I am unable too to leave comments on articles, because of the same reason of James. And there is something more: I tried to create my home page article (published with title "something about me" and with title "home page article"), but I could just edit it and publish it, but not in my home page! And of course my home page shows "you haven't yet an home page article...".

My question is: how can I leave comments on your articles and how can I create a home page article? Please help me!!!

Mineralogically yours from Italy

Riccardo.

"My question is: how can I leave comments on your articles"

- if you are logged in, you should have the comment area at the bottom of article pages.

"and how can I create a home page article? Please help me!!!"

On your "Personal Detail" tab, just fill in the your page text area, Select the check box if it is ready to be published, and then click the "Update Your Page" button.

Thanks for fixing this for me David. I wonder why the system didn't activate my registration when I originally signed up? Oh well! At least it is working for me now after whatever you did to activate it!

You have to request the activation from your personal "home page". Only about 10% of the people who register want to add locality information, photos or info about themselves.

I am having similar problem. I want to add positive feedback/comments to

an article by Henry Barwood. However, I cannot find the "add comments"

button. Please assist.

thanks, Jim

Jim...

If you are logged into Mindat as a member, the message space appears right below the existing comments.

Conversely, if you haven't logged in, no comment space will appear.

...I think.

Good luck

I think someone has activated your membership.

Sorry, but I also can't find anything that 'clicks' for me to leave comments. Seems there is no difference, logged in or not. Any pointers?

Thanks

Mike

You have to have an activated membership.

5th Apr 2012 14:50 UTCD Mike Reinke

Thank you for responding, David, but how do I get an activated membership? is that something I do, or someone else?

You request it on your "my home page"
