Botswana agates are one of the most beautiful agates, and became my passion since 2005 when I got the chance to visit the the locality around Bobonong. Unfortunately it is pretty hard to get the rough out of Botswana and there is a little chance that anything will change in the future.
So at least I posted some of the pictures on my page to share their beauty.

Eventually we should have tags like agate, geodes, nodules, agate nodules etc with which we can tag images when they are uploaded although we can now search the captions of images for key words like those above. Although we can do these searches now I think that most people do not use this feature.

Marketa,
There is no Best Minerals article on agate, chalcedony, opal etc, only articles on quartz from various countries and the agates and other quartz varieties are included with the general quartz article. There are many Quartz articles from various countries that have not been done, with only the images picked out but not yet placed in the article, only the links to them are in the articles. I have often lamented the fact that the mindat gallery is rather poverty stricken when it comes to forms of quartz like agate, chalcedony, petrified wood, opal etc. I am sure that when someone writes the article on quartz from Botswana that it will include some good images of Botswana agate.

It s not only the agates in the south eastern corner of Botswana. The nature and the free roaming animal life in the Tuli area is worth wile a longer visit. From there it is a short trip to Bobanong. The winter periode from May to August is a preferred periode to spend there. Temperature is moderate and the bush feld is shadding its red and yellow leaves. It is also easy to find your own car again whilst looking for agates. You can get lost in the dense bush. In summer, heavy thunder can swell the dry river beds und you might be cut off from civilisation.
