Hello all,
Although it's probably of little interest to the membership, but in the interest of maintaining accuracy I'll mention that Genth first described genthelvite in 1892 but did not recommend a name. Genth's description appears in Am. Jour. Sci., 44, 385 (1892). Glass, et.al., named the mineral after Genth in the reference listed on the genthelvite descriptive page - Am. Min., 29, Nos. 3 & 4, 163-191 (1944).

Perhaps one of you gentlemen could clear up some question on the pronunciation of the mineral. Most people pronounce it "genth - elvite," but I maintain it should be "gent - helvite" for two reasons. First, the name "Genth" would be pronounced "Gent" in the original language, and second, genthelvite is a member of the helvite group of minerals, so the "h" must be pronounced. Comments?
