Looks like it should be merged with the other Kuehl Lake locality

"at the east end of Kuehl lake, 50 feet from the water's edge, on the farm of J. Kuehl, which is 9 miles by road north of Quade- ville."

Our GPS location looks like it is off by half a mile or more (too far south and west.)

The Kuehl Lake Occurrence is in the Township of Brudenell . It is a township in Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada and was formed on January 1, 1999, through the merger of Brudenell and Lyndoch Township with Raglan Township.

Thanks Reiner. Are all of Lyndoch and Raglan Twp in the new Brudenel Twp?

Looking at Renfrew Co., [www.mindat.org] , one finds townships, lakes, cities, towns and a quarry, all at the same level!!! The hierarchy for Ontario was supposed to be County, Township, Concession, Lot which has been the way localities have been organized in the literature. That's a lot of work and it seems that Concessions and Lots have just been ignored. Occasionally a significant area will fall across these political boundaries and then that area occurs at the level of the political boundaries it crosses. (e.g. Madoc Area, Huntingdon Co. [www.mindat.org] ) Someone has done good work on Huntingdon Co., but Renfrew Co. is in sore need of attention. I shudder to look at other Counties.

Hi Rob:

It is Huntingdon Township, Hastings County for the Madoc area. Ontario is better than B.C. where the mining districts defy most modern geography.

Thanks Richard. At least I got the right link for Hastings Co. I agree with you about the BC mining districts. It is painful to put localities into them as you can tell by my frequent inattention to them. Time for another pass at them..
