Incredible, Michael !

I normally don´t like corrections or manipulations of pics, but your result is simply georgious!

Now one of my favourites as well.

Simply great, thank you!

I agree with Eddy, that this is a masterpiece of mineral photography! Thank you also for explaining the technique used to achieve the desired effect!

Michael - great result and nice use of in-camera control and creative lighting (except for background, which perhaps you could have done also!) in this day of digital manipulation. This takes it up a notch to not just scientific photography but art.

For some reason I missed this one as well; must have been on the road or something at the time.....

Even though I don't like digital manipulation (or digital SLRs for that matter), I have to admit that is one striking image, Michael!! Gives me something to try out now when I have an evening to myself.

Thanks again! Just in case it wasn't clear from the photo description, I should say that it is only the background that was manipulated. The image of specimen its self was captured in a single shot, and has not been altered. The effect of being able to see both the visible gold, and the fluorescence of the scheelite at once was achieved with lighting, not Photoshop. The neutral halo was added after-the-fact, just to help define the edges of the specimen. This mimics an effect that I also normally achieve "for real", but since this specimen was too heavy to sit safely on my glass table-top, I had to improvise.
