This specimen is almost certainly from the famous spodumene locality of Walnut Hill in Huntington, Massachusetts. The town of Huntington was known as Norwich until 1855, so this is a very old specimen.

Looks very similar to the Norwich, Mass specimen in Fred Pough's old Field Guide. I've never heard of a Norwich, Conn spodumene (or any other lithium pegmatite minerals from that area), and Julian Sohon's (1951) Connecticut Minerals, which tends to list more than there really is in any particular town, does not list spodumene. 100% sure that's a Norwich, Mass crystal. Nice one, yeah, must be old.

Still waiting for this photo to be moved to [www.mindat.org]. Spodumene does not occur in New London County, Conn. Whereas it does at Norwich (now Huntington), Mass.
