Clever way to take the photo of this specimen, Peter!

There is, or used to be, a big chunk in the British Museum of Natural History, sitting on its label like that. My first reaction as a mineralogical beginner was : "Oh No!! They've written on the specimen!"... You live and learn.

Cheers

Maggie, could you specify the image number you are talking about?

Sure, Rock - it's 60185 - this thread is one of those fancy "talk pages" that you can launch from the photo page itself - and readers of the thread can access the photo by clicking on the heading at the top of this page "Ulexite - Boron, Kramer District, Kern Co., California, USA"

But to make it easier, here's the photo

Maggie, thanks.
Some readers can do that, but apparently the version of Chrome browser that I am using will not permit it. I showed Jolyon that at Tucson on my lap top and he was surprised, but just shrugged his shoulders. Same on my computers at home and at work.

ah, good to know. In future, if I start any talk pages, I will not assume that the feature is fully functional across all platforms!

I updated the tabbed template to show the photo. Will be porting it soon to the regular messageboard template.

That would be nice if it fixes the problem.
