Lepidocrocite - Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Mun. de Mapimí, Durango, Mexico

Posted by Marcus J. Origlieri
I have been wondering about the identification of lepidocrocite from Ojuela lately. I have an old specimen with a Burminco label, with rosasite and plattnerite, that actually turns out to be scrutinyite.

This lepidocrocite specimen© Van King
looks a lot like scrutinyite I have seen. It would be very likely for another lead oxide to associate with murdochite.

What do you think?

Hey Marcus,

this will not help you much and I cannot teach an old dog anything new, but wouldn't a simple analysis solve the question? One as Pb the other not. But overall, are you referring to the leafy looking material or the fuzzy orangy looking dots?
Cheers
J
