PhotosEast Rock, New Haven, New Haven Co., Connecticut, USA

Is there a date on this post card? I find it curious that the Soldiers and Sailors Monument http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soldiers_and_Sailors_Monument_%28New_Haven%29 is not visible in that view. The monument was erected in 1887. I live about 4 miles from East Rock and see it frequently every week on my way to the Yale Peabody Museum.

Edit: On second thought, it could be obscured by the tree to the right.

Hi Fred,

The postcard is from the 1907-1915 period. But the photo on the card could be older.

Thanks, Peter. You can see that view on Google Street View from Orange St just northeast of Cold Spring St, before Mill River (hence the bridge in the post card image). Directly in front on top are two antenna towers, and the monument is off to the right.

Fred
