Countdown to the conference....

This forum is to keep everyone up to date about what's happening with the conference, to ask questions, and to discuss everything about the trip.

My fight into Marrakech arrives a few days before the start of the conference and my flight out leaves a few days after the conference is over due to lack of flights on the optimum days. What can I do with my time there like tourist attractions and places to go so I do not restrict myself to surfing the Net at the hotel for 15 hours a day? Any places recommended... or recommended to avoid?

first of all please send us an email with information if you need some extra nights in the hotel in Marrakech or Midelt.
I do not know how much time do you have. Before Marrakech if you have 2 free days I propose you to go to Essawira (I can help with car etc). After Conference you can stay in Midelt area and visit more localities, or go to fez to visit this beautiful town.
Let me know how many days do you have exactly.

What collecting tools etc. would you suggest one should take?

program will be very intense and we will do not spend much time in single locality so real long time collecting will be not possible. Just 1-2 hours in majority of the localities. I think that hammer and chisel will be enough.

Tom,
After the conference, there is a 3:00 flight from Fez on Tuesday the 13th. Is it reasonable to expect we can get to Fez airport from Midelt in time for that flight?

I am interested in going if it doesn't clash with my other arrangements, but I cannot see any information about the conference trip dates, registration procedure etc either here on the forum pages or on the Mindat home page.

Maybe the conference is already fully subscribed, but if not, I suggest it would be a good idea to make the dates and joining arrangements more conspicuous. (Perhaps a banner on the home page?)

you can start from Midelt anytime (12 evening or in the middle of the night) so there will be no problem to reach airport on time.
Peter, we are fully booked, there is no free places...

Is there a need to BYOHH (bring your own hard hat) or are we only going to 'protected' spots - I intend to bring mine, if you don't tell me there is no need - I need to protect my few remaining neurones!

good question. We will go to few places underground. They are safe but you can always to hit the celling. I would say that if you can take it with you.

I emailed several months ago re:: whether or not my money and information was recieved. We did recieve notice that you were having trouble collecting from Pay Pal. I need to know so I can make the rest of my reservations. I would like to meet Linda and Mike Smith and the rest in Casablanca. Since the list wont be published until Sept. 'would appreciate knowing as soon as possible.

I also emailed back your fact sheet. My reservation for the confrence came through my son, Paul King. Looking forward to the conference.

We will stay in Casablanca before conference. We will take the train on Oct. 31st. to Marrekesh. We will need transportation from the TRAIN station to the conference hotel. Please help us with this or let us know the name of the hotel so we can take a taxi.
