This specimen came to me labeled as Brochantite. The question is are both the spheres and the blades brochantite or is it two different minerals. Also is the translucent botryoidal material Hyalite?

Hi Karl

I think that your assumptions that they are dfifferent minerals are correct and your sugestions look reassonable.
I note that Hyalite is not listed as being from there but again most listings are incomplete so I would not discount that assumption..
I am no expert by any means on that locality but looks to me at least that you are on the right track.

Cheers

Hyalite use to be fluorescent, it turn to green under LW UV. Perhaps that can help...

Might also be allophane.

The matrix maybe chalcedony, which I am fairly sure occurs there, but I wonder if the bluer spheres are pseudomalachite?, the green crystals look like brochantite.

Howdy All,

I'd have to agree with Ralph here, pseudomalachite and brochantite.
Although I would consider even testing the white matrix mineral, as there is a couple of odd-ball white minerals up around that way.
I know a at least two specimens still waiting test results that look similar, that said, chalcedony is still the most likely candidate.

Cheers Mark.

We will never have all the answers, only more questions!
