Olá friends !!!!

I've been to see the magazine article of Mineralogical Record 37/1 about Francon quarry minerals and could not identify the white crystals with a octahedral configuration. Someone expert on the mineralogy of this site can help me identify this mineral.

Thanks.... Martins da Pedra

A pseudo-octahedral cryolite perhaps? I am no expert on Francon though.

I agree that cryolite is a possibility. But I don't have much experience with Francon either.

Hi :-)

Maybe a pseudomorphose of Cryolite in Gibbsite ?

Thanks

Unusual form of fluorite maybe?

I should probably add that the one sample of cryolite that I have from Francon does not look very much like this. But that's just one (micro) sample.

More than likely Fluorite

Hi!!

The cryolite is pale yellow, and with well defined edges. These white crystals are rounded, but realizes the octahedral configuration. Yes it can be Fluorite but the Fluorite of this place is lilac....well is strange and is not mentioned or photographed in the magazine article.
