Mineralogical ClassificationThe status of clinochalcomenite?

13th Jan 2015 13:28 UTCGuang Fan

Who can tell me the status of clinochalcomenite (Cu2+Se4+O3·2H2O)?

This mineral was first discribed in China in 1981 and 1984(Str.).But it was stated not IMA approved in Fleischer's Glossary of mineral species 2008(p47) and cannot find it in The New IMA List of Minerals(updated sep.2014).

We have 5 or 6 localities for clinochalcomenite listed on Mindat, but we list it as "Published without approval", which probably means that it was neither accepted nor rejected by the IMA simply because nobody submitted it to the IMA for consideration. That means anyone with the data could still make a formal submission to the IMA for approval any time.

Thank you very much.
