I am not interested in the name calling going on here. I feel its entirely uncalled for. Please let's stick to facts only.
Thanks to Charles for his insights here. I've since purchased some of Charlse's AMAZING auralite pieces and can attest to thier sheer beauty.
Now, I have some legal questions for a US based seller, if that's OK here. If not, please let me know & delete. Am I to understand that Robert Simmons has trademarked the name Auralite 23? Does that mean I just cannot use that particular name? Thanks so much for all the info posted here so far!!

1) Where's the attachment? Sounds like a good laugh.
2) I'm seeing mention of Thunder Bay, Ontario here... is that where this is from?
3) If so, plenty of opportunity for amethyst collecting at various mines in the T-Bay region.
4) "Phanie Moon" - please don't get sucked in by shysters selling you overpriced common stuff. Don't worry about anybody trademarking names, it's all a pile of nonsense; all a trademark means is that you can't sell your stuff using that name. It's more of a tactic used by con artists and other idiots in the jewelry world who find a pretty stone, like blue zoisite, and don't think housewives will like the name, so they make up the name "tanzanite", or "kunzite", or "red emerald"... ad nauseum. I haven't seen the material, but transparent amethyst with inclusions is far from rare. The Thunder Bay material has lots of neat micro inclusions, from brilliant golden pyrite cubes to red hematite balls, mushrooms, and discs, to brown goethite needles, all under 1mm. The description of the big crystal on the site linked above makes it very clear that the owner is utterly ignorant of mineralogy... it's a neat crystal, but his verbiage is horseshit, don't waste your money on these folks.
5) The above is coming from a guy whose family comes from Thunder Bay and has spent many, many days collecting at the amethyst mines... just sayin'... I know a bit about the area.

OMG! Jolyon, I am in tears from laughing again! Why do ya'll crack me up so? ROFL I refuse to sell this ridiculous stuff and even as a metaphysical crystal dealer? I tell others not to buy into it. Ridiculous.......the "namer" of that amethyst is giving us all a bad rep. I sell it as Thunder Bay Amethyst because that is what it is. Arghhhhh!

Yes Charles, but can we agree that naming, specifically Trademarking a name in order to ask far more than the piece is worth, is not honoring mother earth, but more like slapping her in the face? I am a small crystal biz with a little rebel rocker thrown in and this infuriates me that trademarking a "new" name for an old crystal and asking unbelievable prices for it can in any way be honest. It is taking advantage of folks who do not know any better.
All true crystals and minerals ARE a thing of natural beauty, not to be messed with or trademarked. Of course, Robert Simmons is a masterful marketer and rich to boot. Me? I am just one person fighting the good fight for the whole truth, integrity and justice.
PS, the pic that you shared looks more like the Melody trademarked "super seven" than Auralite. Here is the Thunderbay Amethyst I purchased that was called "Auralite 23" you can see it has much more amethyst and cacoxenite. Your pic attached here has more quartz, smoky quartz, amethyst and what is that Lepidochrosite, maybe? Then again, all of these trademarked things confuse me ;)
