Unique Rock
April 26, 2012 05:51AM
Hello, I am new to this site and I think it's just right for what I have.
Take a look at the pictures of this rock I found while gold panning in Murphy's Ca.
It has 4 distinct faces on it when rotated 180 deg. about it's xy axis (right/left, up/down)
this is not a joke or a photoshop creation, just a unique rock.
My problem is, I suffered a stroke last Easter (2011) and don't trust myself around it, that is why I made a stand or holder for it so I won't drop it.
Does anyone know of a museum that might be interested in displaying it?
The rock is Quartz and does contain a small amount of gold and also has a crystal right inside the eye section.
I would love to lend it to a museum who could appreciate it and display some of Mother Nature's finest work.
Your comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve Graves

Steve, any rock you fall in love with is worth keeping. You will probably be disappointed, however, with what a museum will think of it. Better keep it yourself.

First, welcome to Mindat Steve!!

I tend to agree in that a museum more than likely wouldn't even accept it for inventory, let alone display. However, what I would suggest is that if the rock does indeed have gold in it, try to display it in a way that highlights the gold so that you can show it off and be able to say "why yes, I have found gold"!! grinning smiley
