Marthozite on selenium-rich digenite from the Musonoi Mine. Specimen dimensions are 2.5 x 3 x 0.8cm with the largest complete marthozite crystal measuring 4mm. Minor amounts of green microcrystalline metatorbernite are also present.

Reiner and I did some collecting at the Kemp Prospect near Bancroft this weekend. We found a vug and uncovered these rather ugly thorite crystals. There is a second shot showing the site here - [www.mindat.org]
You know how in the mineral ads they say "photos don't do the specimen justice"? Well, in this case, the photo looks MUCH better than the real thing. They are one ugly bunch of minerals! Lumpy, mishapen, covered with warty -looking diopside crystals - very grotesque. We left them behind in a nice little pile for the next visitor.

Most of these are quite small but fairly rare...

| Lepersonnite- (Gd) from Shinkolobwe - this one is pretty hot. The sample is possibly only about 1cm but gave a reading of over 2 MSu | © |

Here is one. Sorry for the poor quality of the picture. Purchased as "microlite"from a dealer in Brazil. However, I think not. I still haven't had it analyzed, yet. I also can't find reference to the locality given as Mina do Chorao, Brazil. Dimensions: 3.9cm x 3.1cm x 1.5cm. I was wondering about something like fergusonite. Any Ideas?

I don't know what it is exactly. In my oppinion it is some new Albrechtschraufite-like mineral. Igor Pekov decide that it is Rabbittite.
Material from [www.mindat.org] was collected this May and it is really nice! Megascopicaly the mineral is very similar to the best ferrymolybdite.

Luiz,
This was from a dealer when we were in Rio Grande do Norte and this mine is probably also in Rio Grande do Norte. I unfortunately do not recall the name of the dealer. His shop was only a small garage, but he had some interesting things, columbite-tantalite from various localities, microlite and this specimen, plus the more usual pegmatite minerals. A couple other localities for columbite-tantalite I couldn't find reference to were: Mina de Pedreira, Mina de Tico Igem and Minerio Preto. Here is also a "pyrochlore supergroup" mineral they had from Mina Manael Sabino. Dimensions: 19.7mm x 18.0mm x 15.8mm.
