FOV: 4 x 4 mm.
From Rich Uranium nodule of "Ángel" Mine Pegmatite, Sierra de Comechingones, Merlo, Province of Córdoba, Argentina.
Collected in 1978.

The "Gummite" of Mine "Ángel" is actually Vandendriesscheite (Pb1, 5 (UO2) 10 O6 (OH) 11 · 11H2O) and appears in these pegmatites as a result of the weathering of Uraninite, about the same in aggregate micro crystalline orange yellow to yellowish brown and glossy adamantine.
Chemical Analysis of "Gummite" (Vandendriesscheite) variety orange yellow:
SG: 4.1
Lost to Red: 8.80%
Insoluble: 3.04%
UO2: 0.81%
UO3: 80.97%
ThO2 and Rare Earth: 2.15%
PbO: 5.20%
CaO: Traces.
P2O5: Traces.

Thanks, Tony - that was quite the day, finding that piece - Reiner's whoops were heard throughout the woods.

It now resides in our friend's collection - Tim likes big Ontario specimens.
