Here's whats left of a killer large cabinet size Autunite specimen from the Day Break Mine, Spokane Washington I left out in the California sun to long. To say I was heartbroken seeing the specimen reduced to crumbs is an under statement.

Reiner, Thanks for the chuckle! To say I was crushed finding the specimen in a limp pile is an understatement !!! The evil deed happened a dozen or so years back and I still can't get myself to make and effort at recovering the thumbnail specimens that are left. I guess I kinda look at it as the Urn with Gramps it on the Mantle!

This 6 x 4 x 4 cm radioactive crystal assemblage of monazite-ce was found buried in the soil about 10 meters west of the Cactus Jack Pegmatite in Burnet County, Texas in 2008. Of the hundreds of monazite specimens collected since the pegmatite was discovered in 2005, about 80% have been recovered from the soil where they ended up after being eroded from the pegmatite. Sensitive gamma scintillation counters can easily detect buried monazite specimens such as this one at depths of up to a meter. This specimen is currently in the collection of Ed Gage, of Bandera, Texas.

Remnant uraninite core with schoepite, becquerelite and ???, Lookout 22 prospect, Marshal Pass District, Gunnison County, Colorado. 3x2.5x2.5 cm. X2. Gift from R.M. Honea, 1975. When first discovered in the 1950s', this prospect produced some spectacularly rich, large masses of essentially pure uraninite and it's alterations.
Cheers!

Another Colorado specimen, euxenite from Chaffee County. Probably from the Trout Creek Pass occurrences. 8.5x4x4 cm. This is essentially pure euxenite with minor surface alteration on part. Gift from Don and Dee Belsher, 1976.
