How about a couple borates from Nova Scotia. Cluster of howlite crystals from Iona, Cape Breton (2cm), and a superb chambersite from Pugwash (1cm).

Nicely done, one and all!
Across the road (literally) from the Lafarge Quarry is the Flamboro quarry. For the last couple of years there hasn't been an opportunity for field trips here - I hope we can get out in 2012. Here is a sample of the fluorite typical of the quarry. This one is a 2 cm cube.

Here are a few more zircons, all from the McLaren Mine, near Perth, ON. Interestingly, unlike most Grenville zircons are, these ones are not metamict. The long zircon is about 2.0cm. The other two are about 1.0cm each. The very nice, darker image was taken by Ray McDougall and the specimen is in his collection.

I'll upload the chambersite photo at some point. I need to verify the size before I do. I'm 95% sure it was 1cm, but I want to be totally sure before I add it. It is not in my collection, but from the Fundy Geological Museum (and not on display). It was from a one-time find at a salt mine, found during mapping. That was many years ago. Be assured that we tried to find a way to get more(!), but with no luck. So sad - it is an incredible piece.
I have a small backlog of pics of specimens from my own collection I want to upload but need time to get dimensions.
How about a couple other Nova Scotian pieces, this time from Five Islands. The barite w/ calcite (5.5cm) is from an old mine inland. The gmelinite on/ps chabazite w/ heulandite is from the islands themselves and is about 7cm. The gmelinites (in general) are world class but very difficult to photograph.

In keeping with the apatite and self collected themes:
Locality: Fortin and Gravelle Mine, Gatineau Park, Gatineau TE, Outaouais, Québec, Canada
I found this cabinet sized floater apatite crystal buried in the earth about 4 inches from the surface in an over-grown rock dump.
It is an hexagonal crystal comprised of 6 clustered crystals, all terminated.
It is 11cm x 12cm x 11cm and weighs 6.5 pounds or 2750 grams

One of the newer species: bobdownsite or whitlockite or bobdownsite/whitlockite, Big Fish River, Yukon.
Photo #1 (055): Specimen 8.5 x 6 x 3.5 cm, Günther Kuhnlein Collection. Photo © L. Horváth
Photo #2 (049): Crystal group 2.3 cm across, Michel Brunet Collection. Photo © L. Horváth
These two guys collected the first specimens, including these two, in 2001 and discovered bobdownsite. In the species description Can. Min. 49, 1065, they were not given credit for finding the bobdownsite or even mentioned. This is my feeble attempt to correct their exclusion.

Here are the most viewed Canadian minerals in my gallery. Sadly I no longer have them.
Here is my least viewed Canadian specimen in my gallery. Happily I still have it.
