Can't wait to see when you do!

In the meantime, here's another little "gem". Selenite from Nancet creek, Alberta ~3cm high. SW UV & visible.

Since I haven't been able to take new pictures lately I have been combing through some of my old photos when I was first learning how to use my digital camera. I found a few things where the photos are passable enough to post for the purpose of this thread, so I hope you don't mind.

Here's a few faceted Jeffrey vesuvianites, from Brad Wilson.

Jeffrey mine (Jeffrey quarry; Johns-Manville mine), Asbestos, Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Québec, Canada

This specimen from Maniwaki, Quebec is comprised of two complete lustrous black titanite wedge crystals.

The larger one is 4.5cm x 4cm
The smaller one on top 2.5cm x 2cm
A mass of smaller titanite crystals form on one side where they intersect.
The two small 3mm. white squares are scapolite

Maggie - that's most probably Litchfield Twp material.

Mike - John's titanite looks like a typical sample from Maniwaki or Angoumois twp (many people erroneously label the latter as Maniwaki).

Thanks Michael and Phil. I wish I collected it myself. I got it from the collection of Pierre Rousseau at the Montreal Show who had listed as being from "Maniwaki" and when I later emailed asking him for more specifics he said Maniwaki- Lac-Pythonga, La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau .
No Maggi, I never saw that. How interesting! thanks for that.

John - sounds to me, in this case, as very most likely an Angoumois township specimen. Good one too.

Found a couple more old photos...

Tangerine flavoured Quartz (acquired from Bill Plavic)
Boylston quarry, Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
Approx 8 x 6 x 5 cm

There are lots of bigger ones of these out there but this is a favourite as it was a Willard Perkins "Perky Box" thumbnail.
The lazulite goes from shades of blue to green and the siderites are rather gemmy.

Lazulite, Siderite
Rapid Creek, Dawson Mining District, Yukon Territory, Canada
Approx 2.5 x 2.0 cm

I went for a walk today at noon hour and it has suddenly turned cold! Put me in mind of icy blue, like this celestine from the Lafarge Quarry, in Dundas, Ontario

Here's another one of those titanite twins from the Canadian Museum of Nature. Clearly from the same location as the one in that ad, and probably Litchfield, but I can't find the specifics... I'll check with Michel.

Hi,

I discovered this quartz scepter from Sainte Clotilde, Quebec, Canada in my photo file. I got this from Daniel Comtois of Quebec Minerals via mail order in 1998. It is 3.5cm by 5cm in size.

Thanks for the education on fine Canadian minerals.

Best,

Joe

Hi all,

Here's a nice pyrite-coated fluorite on hematite-coated quartz (amethyst) from the Thunder Bay area.
