On my walk-about at the London show held this weekend, saw these two nice cabinet pieces being offered by Ken Dardano, The Gneiss Guy (who also runs the show). Forgot to get measurements, but for scale the labels are 9 x 5 cm.
A snow white halite from Rocanville, Saskatchewan. This came from a private collection.
and an Otter Lake plate

PHEW! That was some weekend! Reiner and I were at the London Gem and Mineral show - wonderful to see the usual crowd of familiar faces - vendors and visitors alike. Now to catch up on correspondence while the washing machine is running!
Thanks, Stephanie, for capturing that halite specimen "on film" - it caught my eye, too, but I didn't have the presence of mind to take any photos yesterday.
Russ - thanks for the St. Hilaire photos - and a celebrity in the mix, too! And belated thanks to David K - that's quite the combination of coatings - if it's in your collection still, I want to make sure I get a chance to see it "in person".
The machine just beeped - time to go!

Russ - I see you also have a knack with the camera - very nice shot of the feldspar full on and in profile - what's going on with the rough surface? Is that the result of weathering?
Hey Ray - I suppose in this case a TN of salt would be equivalent to... what? A tbsp? A large pinch? Har har har, I'm a card, and should be dealt with... I know, I know... X(
Gorgeous colour, Cindy! thanks for posting!
Here's my contribution - I've had a soft spot for ilmenite ever since I saw George Thompson's display at the Peterborough show a couple years ago. I'm not sure if we acquired this from George or David K. Click on the photo for details and other views.

Enjoying all the excellent contributions ~ looking forward to seeing more.
Here is a sample that isn't hot but it still glows in the dark.
This hackmanite is stable pink and when exposed to UV and sunlight it becomes a deep purple, and looks rather like amethyst.
It took months - lost track just how long, for the colour to fade gradually back to pink. Do not know when this was collected, but it is a good possibility it is from the 1985 pocket.
A rehabilitated old photo in the pink phase.
Sodalite var Hackmanite
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada
overall piece approx 3.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm

Every now and again, I cruise my gallery of photos, sorted by "most recently viewed." [an aside - I'm curious: does anyone else do this?]
Since I collect thumbnail specimens that are stored in drawers, the specimens are out of sight, out of mind. Today, when I viewed my gallery, I noticed that this pretty pyro caught someone's attention, and it caught mine, too. Nice fresh burst of green on this dull, drab November day.
Locality: Society Girl Mine, Moyie, Fort Steele Mining Division, British Columbia, Canada
2.5 x 1.7 x 1.0 cm
more views if you click on the picture

Here's an agate from Monte Lake, BC I just acquired yesterday. Monte Lake is well known for "eye agates", but this "sagenite" is rare. It appears to be pseudomorphed after gypsum. Wollastonite is known in the area, but the needles are usually more closely packed.
And all Canadian cobaltite crystals are not from Espaniola - right Dave! This one's from the French Mine at Hedley, BC. Specimen 4cm
