Hi, Maggie,
Fluorite from the Rogers Mine, Madoc, Ontario, Canada; 6cm by 7cm. From Hawthorneden in April of 1996. Frank and Wendy Melanson found this specimen and several others, undamaged, at the bottom of a large pile of fluorite which they bought from a local miner.
Best,
Joe

This is a specimen that Reiner collected some time ago from the Lafarge Quarry in Dundas - fingers are crossed that we will remain privileged to collect there for many years to come.

Thanks Jesse and Joe for the Rogers fluorite - it is one of my favourites!
If anyone has had the pleasure of staying at the Madoc Motel you will have likely noticed that the "innkeeper's" house has stone pillars supporting the front veranda. And inlaid here and there are many fluorite crystals from the local quarries. Once, while booking an overnight stay, I had a chance to check out the fireplace inside - it was built in the same manner. My fingers were itching to find the collecting tools!

Hail
Here is one of my favorites. A spray of yellow Uranophane from the Madawaska Faraday Mine, southwest of Bancroft, Ontario. The history of that place & the quality of the Uranophane i find very fascinating. Definitely one of the most showy & colorful RE minerals i seen from Canada. The cluster is 1.6 cm across.
Michael.

Maggie,
No worries about this being a dud. So many wonderful specimens from Canada.
Both of my offerings are from one of the greatest localities on the planet - Mont Saint-Hilaire.

Hi All,
Here are a few nice fluorapatites (or whatever we're supposed to call them!). the very long one is 18.5cm long and is from Eganville. The stacked cluster is 8.0cm across(photo by Ray McDougall). The stubby one with the second crystal "pressed into it is 5.0cm across. The latter two are from the Bear Lake Diggings.

Hi,
I photographed this apatite on calcite at the Smithsonian Museum in 2010. It is over 50cm in width and is from the Yates Mine, Otter Lake, Canada, of course.
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for apatites from Canada.
Best,
Joe

Great idea Maggie!
Here's one of my field-collected favourites: feldspar after scapolite from the Cross Quarry, Wakefield, Quebec. ~9cm wide.

I thought locality pics should also have their place on here, so below is a photo of the Mine Lac d'Amiante (LAB Mine) located south of Black Lake, QC:
And, a self collected specimen of the primary mineral mined from the pit:

A couple of specimens from Inverhuron, Ontario. I purchased them at a local swap/sales show in Taylor, Michigan this past March.
