David, thanks for the kind remarks. The attached photos are of a beryl fragment which I collected in 1983 at the Roebling Quarry in Upper Merryall (New Milford). I was taking a lunch break with my back up against a tree, when I looked down and saw this beryl fragment right next to me. The first picture was taken with incandescent light, and the second, with LED. It measures 9 mm x 7mm.

Here is another micro. Malachite spray, 2 mm long, from the Ellis Street and Route 72 construction site in New Britain, collected in 1975.

Really nice Bristol chalcocite...I was there collecting the day they knocked down the headframe, circa 1961...collected the dumps, but nothing special. Also, I used to work for Howard Hewitt....he was definitely a character and I learned a lot from him. Also collected at his Turkey Hill Quarry in Haddam.

Re Bristol, someone told me a story about the day they bulldozed the main shaft and created an insane geyser of water. All the water at the bottom of the shaft had to go somewhere when all the fill and rock hit it. I think that shaft was several hundred feet deep. Chris, you wouldn't have taken any pictures of the head frame, did you?
