Steve, that's really nice, what a great piece!

Here is one we acquired recently, you may recall....if you are old enough and remember black and white MinRecs, that this was in the November issue in 1980. Page 384, figure 12.
A very unusual rhodochrosite with pyrite from Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico. 4 inches across, in the article. We measured it at 10.4 x 7.5 x 3.3 cm.

I posted this one in the Arizona thread but decided to post here as well for a bit of fun. Two photos (sorry Gail) but it's the same image!

Sometimes it pays to have imagination and a sense of humour. According to my wife, I have neither!

This specimen has a couple of azurite crystals sitting atop a malachite sphere, with tiny minor cuprite.

However, I also see Snoopy from Peanuts sitting there, probably having been downed by the Red Baron! Can you see him? If you can't, have a look at the second photo...

Since I first started collecting minerals, I have loved radioactive secondaries, for their brilliant colours, and their relative rarity.
This is a particularly fine Cuprosklodowskite from the Musonoi Mine and is about 5.5 cm across

Merry Xmas to all - and great thread Gail.

I have posted several other Indiana geodes containing BARITE in the self-collected thread, but, this is not a self collected example in my collection. It was found about 30 years ago in a stream bed ravine in southern Monroe County, Indiana. This stout, well terminated and color zoned lustrous blade measures 5.5 cm wide x 4.5 cm high x 0.9 cm maximal thickness. The geode half measures about 15 cm x 10 cm. I think the specimen had passed thru several hands prior to being acquired by me from another prominent Indiana geode field collector about 10 years ago. While there is some indication that it may be expertly repaired at its base, it is still a great example of an Indiana barite. As I have mentioned elsewhere, Indiana geode barites are probably the best of all in the Midwest; someone out there have a non Indiana example of a killer barite in a midwest geode??
