Stunning photos Maggie and AM, always a treat.

I'm wired about this little bundle that my postman brought me this week.
My only concern is how to remove the residual blue tack without damaging the specimen.

Siver, Calcite

Here's a nice bicolor Topaz from Wolodarsk-Wolinskiy, Ukraine. It has very appealing color zoning with a blue center and reddish brown sides.

Great stuff, all.

Stephanie, I may be over a week late on the posting, but that Nasik calcite is flippin' cool. I'm a big fan of specimens with lots of right angles and such -- as well as calcites of all kinds -- and I've never seen anything like that one. Excellent pick!

It's killing me that I don't have a real photo set-up right now, as I'd love to post a few items. Not that things are lacking by my absence, as there's excellent rocks on display pretty consistently these days...

Cheers,
D.

Neal, it is always a pleasure to see your superb specimens. That Topaz is outstanding. Great work with the camera too!

Paul that hot one is sure pretty. Very nice indeed.

Don, glad you liked the calcite. I can't seem to get my fill of them.
If you liked the calcite you might like this andradite that recently landed from the locale du jour, Inner Mongolia. I obtained a few specimens and the colours vary from medium green to black with mirror lustre. On this one they are actually a dark green and have high lustre depending on the angle of lighting.

Andradite
Huanggang Mine (Huanggangliang Mine), Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
overall ~7 x 4 x 3cm

I picked up today's favorite, a nice Chinese Calcite and Stibnite at the Denver spring show this last weekend. The specimen is 2.5 " wide x 3" tall x 2.75 deep. The calcite is actually a bit lighter in color than the photo conveys. It is gem clear so its tough to photo. From Xionghuang Kurang, China.

A small cluster of hiddenite crystals with quartz on matrix from North Carolina is today's favorite. 6.2 x 4.7 cm.

Interesting piece, AM. I don't believe I've seen another matrix hiddenite. Nice photo too.

Thanks Joan. It was one of two matrix specimens I came across at Tucson this year.

Locality: Crystal Park, Elkhorn Hot Springs area, Beaverhead Co., Montana, USA
Size: 3.4 x 1.2 x 1.1 cm

This specimen consists of a razor-sharp, pristine quartz crystal scepter. The crystal has pronounced purplish amethystine and smoky quartz crystal phantoms within. The crystal has gem clarity and also hosts some unidentified crystalline inclusions. The termination also hosts a tiny pair of quartz points prominently perched on top.

Wow! Great photos and specimens Everyone! Thanks all for sharing.

AM - I bet that hiddenite on matrix was more difficult than it looks to capture well, which of course you have done hands down as usual.

Xiao-dong, those inclusions remind me of cristobalite, however they do look rather large for such. Outstanding scepter and photo!

I was going through some of my Greenland items and forgot how much I liked this one, so it is my favourite today.

Siderite, Cryolite
Ivigtut Cryolite deposit, Ivittuut (Ivigtut), Arsuk Firth, Arsuk, Kitaa (West Greenland) Province, Greenland
2.3cm x 1.5cm

Haven't been around much as I am taking care of a terminally ill parent. But we did manage to recently get this piece. It is just at the beginning of the American Treasures book. Jackson Crossroads Quartz var Amethyst.

Since there is a quartz theme going, and it has been sometime for me, here is a nice one for the day. Absolutely outside of the size I collect, I just love the piece, so I have kept it all this time!

Quartz Faden
Wana, Waziristan, Pakistan

5 1/2 inches tip to tip.

Great photos, and pieces everyone.

Nice Faden Quartz Ryan, i also thought it was to large for your collection, i know the solution to your problem....
.
As the theme is Quartz, this is my contribution,

Quartz cluster, Sichuan Province, China.
size is 15cm high x 14 across, the longest crystal is 15cm, all crystals are double terminated,
it was a floater, the miner said that they just lifted it out of the vugh, without the help of tools.
